James' Einfluss auf Michael zeigt Wirkung. Michael weiß nicht mehr, ob das, was er im Namen der CIA tut, wirklich richtig ist. Um ihn endgültig von seiner Sache zu überzeugen, beschließt James, sich zu opfern. Michael soll ihn bei einer fingierten Aktion dem CIA in die Hände fallen lassen, um seine Tarnung als "braver Agent" aufrechtzuerhalten. Danach könnte Michael mit Sonya die Mission von James' Organisation weiterführen.
